There is a website called www.glassdoor.com

There are many reviews of large and small companies from the employee point of view.

Get Your CDL Without Going to Truck Driving School

If you drove trucks in the military, there's a good chance you can skip driving school and slide into the commercial driver's seat with relative ease, thanks to an initiative approved by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
Most state transportation departments now offer a Military Skills Test Waiver for CDL applicants who plan to drive vehicles similar to those used in the military. It waives the road skills test requirement — meaning if you qualify, all you need to do is pass the written exam in order to get your CDL.
Jenny McDowell, military recruiting manager at Schneider National, says the waiver program is a great way to streamline the CDL process for military members. “They've gained years of driving experience while serving our country. It just makes sense to be able to transfer those skills to a commercial license,” the Army veteran explains.
To be eligible, you must be active duty military or a recent honorably discharged veteran with at least two years experience operating a commercial motor vehicle as part of your military job requirements. To apply, fill out the Military CDL Skills Test Waiver Form.
Currently, more than 30 states accept the Military Skills Test Waiver. Several others are working on the process.
Schneider National is hiring truck drivers in nearly every state that accepts the waiver — making it that much easier for you to get in the driver's seat. Call 800-44-PRIDE to find out how your military skills will be valued at Schneider.
Schneider National has exceptional career paths for professional drivers and truck school graduates. Opportunities exist for company drivers and owner-operators in Schneider’s Regional, Over the Road, Dedicated, Tanker, Team Expedited, Oil Field Transportation and Port Dray divisions. Six Month Information Technology Course in Miami, Florida

A friend, Shannon Jernigan sent this information to me to share with you.

SIX 6 MONTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COURSE IN MIAMI, FL
This is an intense course that will give the veteran a huge leg up on the employability ladder. Students will learn the theory, practicum, and prep for the tests to become certified in 5 areas. A+, N+, S+. Comptia, and 2 Microsoft Technician certificates. The Post 9/11 GI Bill and VA Voc Rehab will pay for their tuition. While in class, veterans receive BAH which will pay for their shared rooms in a 3 bedroom condo just 2 blocks from the University. The VA Hospital is a short 15 min FREE ride on the tram which stops just in front of the school. The University will accommodate for MD appointments at the VA Hospital. Classes are Mon-Thur 0800 - 1600 with Fridays as a make up day or for Tutoring if the veteran needs extra help. OUr goal is to help the student pass all 5 of the Certification Tests the first time. The cost of the tests are included in the course fees. The housing accommodations are top flight and include kitchens, living rooms and laundry facilities. Students are expected to keep their quarters clean and neat. Professional cleaning is provided once per month by the University.
One of the issues of the past was disrespect for the staff and professors. This is not tolerated. They are there to help you learn the material and pass the tests, so [lease keep that in mind. The next class begins on July 1, and the one after begins on 3 September. If you are interested or know someone who could use a leg up, and is interested in These certifications, please email me at shannon.jernigan@vet-power.org and provide me with their phone so that i can speak to them in person about the course. I will then send them a complete application packet. The application fee is waived for all veterans. Atlantis University is an International, VA Certified, Veteran Friendly University. If you would like, call me at 915-727-2075.

Military Skills Translator

Veterans:
Unless you translate your  Military skills into non military jargon,  you will have trouble finding work.

I realize you have lived, eaten, breathed and slept military for the past years.
But now you need to take your trainings and experiences and turn them into real time terms.

Helping Veterans

Too many Veterans are forgotten when they return from doing service for their country.
If you are a US Veteran and or spouse, in Maryland or around the globe and are out of work and want several hundred extra pair of eyes to help you look for a job, we can do it.

Tell us what kind of work you desire, your salary range and where you live(city, state and zip).
We don’t know how long it will take to find you a job but we will try.
No promises.
No idea how long our search might last.
There might not be the perfect job out there for you but something is better than nothing!
You can call us crazy but if we help each other when we are down, then we all might just live happier lives.
You have nothing to lose.
Besides, what we offer is free.
Yes, we said free!
Free as in no cost to you!

And if per chance, we help you find a job, would you be so kind as to leave a comment on this site!

Veteran Friendly or Just Lip Service

In the short time that I have been helping veterans try to find jobs
I have discovered a number of "Veteran Friendly" companies who say they welcome Veterans but when it comes down to the line,  these friendly companies are not.
These companies are telling the public that they support our Veterans.

How can these companies support Veterans by offering $8.00 per hour?
And the public buys into it and supports the companies by purchasing more products and services!

The companies win but the veterans, lose.
After taxes and bus fare, the Veterans have almost nothing to use to purchase food for the table.
And these companies continue to pull the wool over the eyes of the consumers.

Too many people think that what the businesses say is true.
When consumers begin to ask direct questions and get real answers, then maybe veterans will start to get a wage which is better than poverty.
A living wage salary would be a real start.
But since there is too much corporate greed, I am not going to hold my breath.
I won't name any of the companies but they know who they are.
And they should be be ashamed of themselves.
But are they ashamed?
I doubt it.
They take their shame all the way to the bank.
It is too bad that there is not a wall of shame for these "Veteran Unfriendly Companies."
