Position
Summary: This position is dedicated solely to serve as
the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for VMware and Cisco’s Unified Computing System
(UCS) Virtual Infrastructure.
Essential
Functions/Responsibilities:
·
Working knowledge of the Virtual
Infrastructure/ Architecture to include: vCenter App server,
vCenter Database server, VMware Update Manager proxy server, ESXi hosts, and
SolarWinds Virtualization Manager
·
Must be a self starter that
requires little direction.
·
Maintain (quarterly) required site
documentation for Virtual Infrastructure Enclaves including but not limited to
the following; Virtual Infrastructure Security Guidelines, Virtual
Infrastructure Functional Architecture, Virtual Infrastructure Current
Architecture, and Standard Operating Procedures.
·
Remediate and mitigate vulnerabilities
from DISA’s manual checklists and Retina scans for the Virtual Infrastructure
assets.
·
Identify mitigation strategies that
lessen risk levels for those that cannot be remediated within the Vulnerability
Matrix for the LAN Accreditation.
·
Manage the organization’s Virtual
Infrastructure Life Cycle Framework
o
Architect and Engineer a Development
(Dev), System Integration and Testing (SI&T), Production Testing Environment
(PTE), and Production (Prod) Enclaves for the Framework, in support of the
DIACAP process.
o
Administer the Dev and SI&T Enclaves
that are complete replicas of the Production Virtual Infrastructure which
consist of UCS, ESXi host, Active Directory, DNS, vCenter DB, vCenter App, and
VMware Update Manager, Nexus 1000v, and Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS).
·
Assist the
Information Assurance Team with the Accreditation of the DEV, SI&T, and PTE
Enclaves based on DISA’s STIG Development reference guide.
·
Optimize the Virtualization Architecture
to support Microsoft Cluster Services (MSCS) for Network Printing, DHCP, and
MSSQL.
·
Architect and administer the Virtual
Machine (VM) Deployment Procedure which follows the SCCM Enterprise Provisioning
process.
·
Architect and engineer subsequent
upgrades to the organization’s Virtual Infrastructure.
·
Brief IM/IT Management with new Virtual
Infrastructure Architecture to enhance security and technical capabilities for
the organization.
Experience:
Required
|
·
10+ Years of experience in
IT Engineering, to include 5+ years of experience in VMware Solution
Architecture
|
·
Strong experience with; Windows
2008 R2 Operating System, SQL 2008 Enterprise R2, vCenter 4.1 & 5.1,
ESXi 4.1 & 5.1, and Cisco UCS hardware
|
·
Experience with DISA checklists
and Retina Reports to remediate and mitigate Virtual Infrastructure
vulnerabilities
|
·
Security + (within 6 months of
start date), VCP4, and VCP5
|
Desired
|
·
15+ Years of experience in
IT Engineering, to include 7+ years of experience in VMware Solution
Architecture
|
·
Strong Experience with; ESXi Linux
shell via command line and Windows, ESXi, and UCS PowerShell
|
·
Experience in managing a Virtual
Infrastructure to support Systems and Applications Life-Cycle
Process
|
·
Achieved Data Center
Virtualization certification, to include any of the following:
VCAP-DCA, VCAP-DCD,
VCDX
